Drive on to a nearby development combining vineyard and spa amenities near Carcassonne. The intimate residential complex features tastefully decorated homes using authentic local materials like flagstone, wrought iron, and stone. The stunning reception area boasts a luxurious spa, Turkish bath, pool, and sophisticated bar with panoramic terrace views.
Continuing the elegant experience, we visited La Redorte chateau - a historic property poised for transformation into a sophisticated residence. Recalling its winemaking heritage, the estate will offer new owners 12 annual bottles of wine and restore its former glory. We even explored the secret tunnel marking the winemaking renaissance.
Exploring Pezenas revealed its culinary and cultural richness. Savoring duck breast in fig sauce proved exceptional. Our accommodation in Herepian, a renovated convent, provided comfortable contemporary suites where we slept soundly.
Saturday’s market in Pezenas proved captivating. The region’s produce was extraordinary - from local cheeses and sausages to fresh seafood, seasonal fruits like watermelon, cherries, apricots, and nectarines, and renowned asparagus. Quaint squares and inviting cafes awaited at every turn.
As Molière’s birthplace, the city celebrates its playwright through street names and spontaneous summer courtyard performances. We discovered a development offeringluxury apartments in historic 19th-century buildings, featuring a Mediterranean courtyard with pool and spa, complete guest services and conference facilities.
Nearby Marseillan’s Port Rive Gauche development charmed with rustic decor and stunning sea views.
After a scenic lunch overlooking the bay, we explored Sete’s Hotel Residence by the sea and a modern hillside residence with pool and landscaped gardens. La Grande Motte, a seaside resort 45 minutes away, offers appealing leisure facilities.
Our final destination was Aigues Mortes, a fortified medieval town between sea and lagoons. The development features Mediterranean-style houses reminiscent of fishermen’s homes, some with private moorings. Inside the town walls, cafes, boutiques, and restaurants create a relaxed atmosphere.
We concluded our trip with a leisurely pizza dinner and cold beer, a perfect ending.
Sunday morning, we flew from Montpellier airport at 10 am, returning to British soil by 1 pm - so quick it felt like we never left.
