The Black Friday 2019

Imported to France in 2010 by Amazon and Apple, then adopted in 2014 by high street retailers such as Fnac, Auchan and Darty, Black Friday has become an unmissable event. This major discounted shopping occasion, scheduled for Friday 23 November, traditionally takes place in the United States the day after Thanksgiving, solely in physical stores. This results in incredible stampedes at opening time for a European observer. American consumers then have to wait until the following Monday to benefit from online promotions, on Cyber Monday. The latter has also been introduced in France, however the boundary with Black Friday is somewhat thinner, with e-commerce sites starting their offers from Friday... which would make the term "Black week" more appropriate. It is in any case an opportunity for many French people to snag good deals as the year-end holidays approach.
