The Solidays will take place from 21 to 23 June 2019 at Longchamp Racecourse. This music festival is organised by Solidarité Sida, an association that raises awareness among young people about the AIDS virus. Founded in 1992, this organisation fights AIDS and informs younger people. To do this, it programmes events and shows such as the Solidays. Personalities such as Antoine de Caunes, Magic Johnson and Jean-Jacques Goldman have joined this movement through concerts or charitable events.
Since 1999, more than 150 artists have been invited to perform on the stages at Longchamp Racecourse. Each year, more than 200,000 festival-goers have been able to enjoy a variety of music styles. Since its creation, the festival has raised nearly 25 million euros for its fight against AIDS, proof of its effectiveness and popularity among a young audience. This has enabled it to support no fewer than 2,200 programmes in 42 countries. The Solidays take place over 3 days, from Friday to Sunday evening. 5 stages are available to spectators: 2 main stages and 3 secondary stages. The “Paris” stage, considered the most important, can accommodate up to 55,000 people at the same time.
The specificity of the Solidays lies in its informative nature. Indeed, raising awareness about the dangers of the AIDS virus is omnipresent throughout the festival. Debate and prevention stands are set up over these 3 days: a 45-minute interactive exhibition is even planned. Furthermore, all proceeds are donated to associations fighting AIDS. Artists contribute to this effort by accepting reduced or nil fees.
As every year, the Solidays line-up is eclectic. From rap to electro/techno groups, to rock or pop artists, the festival offers a very broad style palette. Belgian breakthrough act Angèle will probably be the headliner of these 3 days; she will perform on the main stage on Sunday. J Balvin, the Colombian star of reggaeton, will also bring his worldwide hits on Sunday. Finally, Ninho, the headline act of French rap, will open the festival on Friday evening. The triple platinum record holder will get the crowd going with tracks from his latest album “Destin”.
The phenomenal success of the Solidays is reflected in ticket availability. Each year, the festival sells out its 3-day passes. There are almost none left on official ticketing, even for single evenings. Be careful to look for official resellers, or at least people you trust, to avoid any kind of scam. Hurry to get the last remaining tickets if you want to attend one of the largest festivals in France!
