La Route du Rhum est de retour pour une 10e Edition !

4 years after its last edition, the Route du Rhum is set to launch its 10th edition!

The race will begin on 2 November at 2pm with a start from Saint-Malo on the Breton coast. The objective is simple: to get from Saint-Malo to Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe as quickly as possible.

There will be many skippers (91 this year) attempting in turn to win this magical race and become part of the mythical figures of the race in their own right. The winners as well as the most memorable skippers from previous editions are treated as true heroes by the crowd.

The race brings together men and women who are preparing to brave the Atlantic Ocean solo. The maximum duration for the crossing is 35 days this year. The fastest will probably take only 2 or 3 weeks. The choice of boat is completely free; skippers can opt for monohulls or multihulls. The images of the start are very impressive, the boats are often gigantic and the skippers deserve all the more credit for managing solo all the difficulties of navigation: strength of currents, opposing winds… and above all solitude!

Always very popular, the race and its start are a must-see event to experience every 4 years. Since 1978, in fact, many spectators, families, sea lovers and revellers have been going there to see the entertainment set up around the port and experience the magic of the start. The village set up around the departure port offers numerous activities for the crowd.
