Arranging a small outdoor space

It is not always easy to arrange your garden to your taste, particularly if you live in the city and only have a very small green space, a courtyard or a balcony.

Going vertical

To make a small plot welcoming without monopolising all the space, consider investing in climbing or tall plants that will grow upwards rather than in circumference. Too-large volumes would only emphasise the impression of a small surface area!

Colour and good cheer

Every city dweller would try by any means to combat the greyness of the city. What better way than to repaint the floor of your courtyard or balcony, or to revitalise your space by installing colourful flower pots? Be aware that pastel colours harmonise with the green of vegetation while brighter shades such as fuchsia pink or turquoise blue will stand out more. On the flower front as well, do not hesitate to invest in colour!

Small but comfortable

A small surface area should not deprive you of the pleasure of lunching or relaxing in your garden. Today there is a multitude of garden furniture and accessories available in all sizes and colours. However, take care to manage your space properly so you do not end up with a complete mess, a relaxation space that is impossible to enjoy. Size and layout should therefore be considered before anything else so you do not feel too cramped. A small tip: before starting the arrangement, it is important to decide what identity you wish to give to your space. You will easily find decor ideas on the internet or in specialised magazines.

And in the evening

The last but not least element: light! It is just as pleasant to enjoy your terrace during the day as in the evening, so it is important to choose soft lighting that will allow you to extend the evening in complete peace. Candles, fairy lights, solar lamps… there are as many colour and shape options as there are tastes. Do not hesitate to install small lanterns or other tea lights to give a cosy, warm atmosphere to your little corner of greenery.
