Nice is one of the most popular destinations on the French Riviera. Between sea and mountains, the capital of the French Riviera is full of exceptional sites.

The Promenade des Anglais 

Impossible to visit Nice without passing by the mythical Promenade des Anglais (aka la Prom’)! Indeed, this beautiful avenue on the seafront which runs along the Bay of Angels enjoys a worldwide reputation. Thus, you will be able to contemplate the beach from the blue chairs of Wilmotte, admire the sublime Negresco hotel, taste the brasserie La Rotonde or join the many sportsmen and women who are used to these places.  

Cours Saleya Market 

In the morning, go to the Cours Saleya market in Old Nice. Stroll between the different stalls, smell the beautiful smells and if you feel like it, try some local specialities. On Mondays, the antiquares take place: the treasure hunt is open to lovers of old and authentic objects!  

The Old Nice 

The Vieux Nice is undoubtedly the most touristic district. Its cobblestones, its colourful facades, its numerous cafés and restaurants will plunge you into a warm Mediterranean atmosphere. In addition, you will be able to discover many historical monuments: The Opera, Sainte-Réparate Cathedral, Chapel of Mercy, Lascaris Palace… If you wish to take a gourmet break, go to Fenocchio to enjoy the best ice creams in town. Usually there is a bit of waiting, but love does not count the cost! 

The Castle on the Hill 

The castle on the hill offers an exceptional panorama of the whole city. If you visit Nice on a weekend, don’t miss this breathtaking view! Moreover, you will discover a magnificent wooded park at the top. The ruins of the castle and the big waterfall will offer you an ideal setting for a pleasant picnic.  

Place Masséna 

Located between Vieux-Nice and Avenue Jean-Médecin, Place Masséna is the nerve centre of the city. This large pedestrian square has a neoclassical architecture full of charm. Its chequered floor, its buildings in Provençal colours and its seven statues imagined by the artist Jaume Plensa will seduce you.    

The Paillon walk 

The Paillon walk, also known as the “coulée verte”, will delight all nature lovers. Cross it and enjoy this unusual green space in the heart of the city centre.  Numerous children’s games, a water mirror and a multitude of misters will amuse young and old alike! 

Avenue Jean Médecin 

In the continuity of Place Masséna, you will see the Avenue Jean Médecin which extends over nearly a kilometre. Large chains (H&M, Zara…), small shops and a shopping centre (Nicetoile) come together to form the favourite street of the biggest fashionistas!   

The Phoenix Park 

The Phoenix Park is home to a botanical garden and a zoological park covering more than seven hectares. You will admire numerous theme gardens and meet incredible animal and plant species. Finally, you will be able to contemplate one of the largest greenhouses in the world. Count 5 euros the entrance fee to enjoy this jewel! 

The Cimiez bullring 

For a cultural outing, direction Cimiez! Located on the heights of Nice, this district hides a surprising historical site. In particular, you will come across the remains of an ancient Roman amphitheatre known as the Arènes de Cimiez. In addition, you can stroll on the grass of the pretty arena garden. For the more curious, visit the archaeological museum! 

The port  

Finish your weekend in Nice by visiting its small port. You will notice luxurious yachts or “pointus” (small typically Mediterranean boats) set in a picturesque setting.
