Francophonie Day

March 20 is the International Francophonie Day (literally the international day set to celebrate French language). To commemorate this day, a whole event has been created called the “Semaine de la langue française et de la francophonie” (French language Week). During this week, a lot of events are taking place around the world around the world to celebrate French language. This year, the theme is water (l’eau in French).  

There are approximately 369 millions of French-speaking people in the world, making it the 5th most spoken language in the world. French and English are the only languages to be spoken in every continent. International Francophonie Day was created to help promote French across the globe. Let’s discover what kind of activities are prepared for this week:

TREASURE HUNT IN CHÂTEAU DE MAISONS – March 18 from 10:30am to 12pm

The Château de Maisons is offering families but also people learning French to participate in a treasure hunt where senses, enigmas and the discovery of ten words will allow you to investigate on the importance of water through the centuries. Visitors are invited to discover the castle, following the footprints of the Roi Soleil (Louis XIV)… Water, the theme of the week, will inevitably be at the center of this treasure hunt!

IMPROVE YOUR FRENCH WORKSHOP IN CENTRE POMPIDOU IN PARIS, FRANCE – March 16 from 3:30pm to 5pm

Centre Pompidou designed this workshop to foreigners learning French. The workshop will propose methods to learn French and teach you new means to learn it (such as Apps like MyCow in French, Autodidacte, etc.)
