Martinique, once known as "Madinina" or the "island of flowers" or Louanacera, is a small island of 1,000 km² in the Caribbean arc between North and South America, with tropical vegetation. Famous too for its volcano, Montagne Pelée, and for the Tour des Yoles Rondes, a major sailing event, Martinique is also renowned for rum with extraordinary flavours. Its geographic position allows for many fruitful economic and tourism exchanges with the Caribbean.
