Gastronomy
Located on the seaside of the Mediterranean coast, Sanary-Sur-Mer offers local specialties, characterised by Provencal flavours. Olive oil is one of the main components of this typical cuisine with a major symbol of the area, the Herbes de Provence, which is a mix of dried herbs (mainly composed with Savoury, Fennel, Basil and Thyme flowers). These components are the basis of recipes such as Soupe au Pistou, Anchoïade, Tapenade, or Aioli. Sweet flavours can also be found in Provencal cuisine with honey made from lavender, rosemary or strawberry. The area is finally well-known for its prestigious red wines and rosé. The famous Bandol Rosé is the oldest AOC (“controlled designation of origin) wine of France.
