Fayence

Fayence is a town located at 350m of altitude in the Var department in the Provence Cote d’Azur area. This town was well-appreciated by Roman who nicknamed it Faviena Loca (pleasant place).

Access:

Fayence is located 32km to Mandelieu la Napoule, 40km to Saint Raphael and 37km to Cannes. To reach Fayence you can come by plane to Nice International Airport.

Activities:

In Fayence you can take in the sights like a 12th century castle, the Notre Dame des Cypres chapel (10th century), St Roch chapel (16th Century), the Saint Jean Baptiste baroque church (18th Century), The Sarrazine gate, The Clock Tower (1807) with its Var panorama.
There are some interesting museums to visit in Fayence such as the Four du Mitran museum with a Middle Age bread oven, the Ecomusee with the visit of 2 mills (16th and 18th century), an old cork factory and an old alcohol reboiler. There is also the Une Semaine en Aout museum with war documents and items from the first Fench Empire to the Algeria War. In Fayence you can take part to guided tours to discover the old village and the 13 fountains and wash houses.
Some festivals are organised in Fayence. Every 2 years there is the Bread festival (first Sunday of July) with hustle and bustle streets, traditional scenes and a picnic. The last week of October there is an important music festival with classic music concerts from International artists in Fayence churches. 4 days per year there is a pilgrimage in the Notre Dame Des Cypres chapel with dances and farandoles. In November you could enjoy African music with concerts and introduction to African dances and percussions.
Throughout the year, there are several expositions such as the Ecoflore (flowers) the first Sunday of May, the art creator in July, the Provence Gourmande (with Provence food and drink) in August and 4 times a year there is an antiquarian exhibition.
In Fayence you can take part in a lot of activities such as hikes, rides, water sports with the Saint Cassien Lake, horse-riding, canyoning, swimming pool, Spa and golf. You could also try aeronautical sports at the airdrome which is the first glider European centre. Moreover, Fayence has a cultural complex with a theatre and an auditorium.
