History

Mougins has a rich cultural heritage that extends all the way back to the start of the last millennium. The parish church of “Saint Jacques le Majeur” dates back to the 11th century and retains all of its old charm despite extension and refurbishment in the 17th and 18th centuries.
There is the chapel of Notre Dame de Vie which has stood since the 12th century which was actually re-built in part during the 17th century and also the chapel of Saint Barthelemy which is of particular interest as it is a rarity to find a religious structure in an octagonal shape, as this chapel is.
