The blacksmith succeeded in convincing his fellow citizens to build a sanctuary on the site of the oak tree where the Virgin had appeared to him. The said chapel dates from the end of the 15th century and attracts many pilgrims every year. The Trois Epis station had its hour of glory at the beginning of the 20th century thanks to a tramway that brought tourists to the open air from the valley. This was a prosperous period for hotels and other establishments that flowed from happy days to the 1970s and 1980s.
