Veyrac is a commune in the Haute-Vienne department in the Nouvelle Aquitaine region in mid-west France. Veyrac has a fantastic history and an interesting wooded area. In fact, 1/3 of the town is a forested area which attracts hikers and cyclists. The town is situated in between the Ambazac Mountains to the East and the Blond Mountains to the West. The ancient town is built up around the castle (Chateau de la Cosse) and the church, both of which have been traced back to the 11th Century. Apart from historical sites in the town, there are attractions in Limoges (only 10 minutes away) and lots of sporting activities nearby. With sports, leisure and cultural activities are all on offer here it really has become a fantastic place to visit or settle in. Limoges Airport is located 10 kilometres out of the city and is now served by Ryanair and Flybe.
Access
Veyrac is located 1 hour 30 mins from Perigueux, 1 hour 10 mins from Angouleme airport, and just 10 minutes from Limoges international airport which is now served by Ryanair and Flybe. The nearest TGV train station is just 20 minutes away in Limoges.
Activities
Local sporting activities include tennis, horse-riding, water sports, fishing, hiking, and cycling. There are also various sites to visit in the town such as the Chateau de la Cosse which dates back to the 11th century and the Pont surmonte d’un colombier. There are two museums in Limoges (10 mins) which are worth visiting too; the Musee de la Porcelaine Adrien Dubouche and the Musee Municipale de l’Eveche. There are golf courses in both Limoges and St.Junien, both just 20 minutes away. There is the Parc du Reynou zoo park in Le Vigan which is a great local attraction!

Local specialities include: “boeuf limousine”, black pudding in roasted chestnuts, pork, apples, baronette lamb, potato pate, marzipan cake de St. Leonard, and macaroons of Dorat.
