Val de Marne is a department of Ile de France.

Geography

Val-de-Marne is a department, named after the Marne River. It lies to the south-east of Paris and form “small ring” with 2 other department surrounding the capital.
It is a landscape of plains, plateaus and forests.
With 15kms of the Seine and 24kms of the Marne running through the department, river tourism is one of the greatest assets of this department.

Towns

Champigny-sur-Marne is also worth a visit for its ancient church of St-Saturnin, its many streets with revolutionary names and its Musee de la Resistance National.

Nogent has many colourful restaurants along the river and the Musee de Nogent which covers all matters of historical and regional importance and especially features pictures of the development of life on the river banks. Its marina is one of the most sizeable.

In Vincennes, there is a beautiful castle, one of the rare examples of a royal chateau dating back to the feudal era. Moreover, you can also visit the St Louis church, charming l’hotel de ville build between 1887 and 1891 and zoo from 1934 appreciated by its visitors.

There is also a highly varied program that is rich with emotional experiences, featuring temporary exhibits, theme parties, exceptional visits and company tours. For example: “Paris Mambo Festival”, athletic events, “La Musique de nos Potes”-serial concerts, “Festival de musique franco-americaine de Thiais”- concerts of Frech and American artists ou “Nous n’irons pas a Avignon”-music, theatre and dance.

Gastronomy

Val-de-Marne as Paris, offers a large variety of traditional regional and international dishes. The menus are mostly influenced by the Normandy and Champagne region.

By car: You can travel by car to Paris by taking the ferries which go from Dover to Calais and then you can take the Motorway to Paris.
You can also cross the channel with the Eurostar and stop at Calais. Then you will travel on the motorway directly to Paris.
