The Alsace region is divided into two départements:

• Haut-Rhin (68)
The region is on the border of the French and German frontiers. It is the smallest region of France, but also the third most densely populated region. Alsace also has the lowest unemployment rate of France. Bas-Rhin is located in the Northern portion of Alsace, whereas Haut-Rhin is located within the Southern part. Properties in Bas-Rhin are more expensive than in Haut-Rhin, with the exception of two bed apartments.
