Access Being so far north Bayeux is of course easily accessed from the Channel ports. The town has a railway station on the line from Paris. It is on the N13 and easy to reach from several of the Channel ports by car or coach.
Activities There are many regular events to look forward to from a rock festival in Sully to the blessing of the sea each August. Port-en-Bessin, the areas largest fishing port has a festival of sea songs - but don't worry this also includes lots and lots of lovely sea food. To explore the town quickly take the little train which visits various historic sites, or go on a tour of battle sites and memorials. Place au Pommes is full of artist's studios to browse and admire. There are also a number of high quality antique shops and near Christmas there are special markets. For the sporting as well as the usual water based activities there is archery, hiking trails, paragliding and a motor bike club.
Food and Drink in Bayeux Food in the north of France is based on butter and cream rather than the olive oil found further south. Apples are the predominant fruit and so Calvados and Cider are often used as ingredients and camembert is the favourite cheese. Being near the coast of course sea food is as fresh and good as can be.
