Conques property guide
Conques is a 300 inhabitant village, located in Aveyron (12), not far from Rodez (Midi-Pyrenees region). Nestled in a preserved natural environment, Conques ranks among the “most beautiful French villages”. You can easlily find a lovely stone property for sale in the Aveyron near Conques. Access
You can come to Conques by train, with the TGV from Paris to Toulouse and then catch a local train to the close stations of St Christophe, Rodez or Viviez-Decazeville.
The nearest international airport is Rodez-Marcillac airport, 40 mins from Conques.
Activities
There is a lot to discover in Conques, as the village had a rich cultural heritage. You can visit the Roman church, the Ste Foy abbey galleries, but also the cloister. In the streets there are numerous elements of the Roman architecture such as the 15th century Humieres castle, fountains (Fontaine de Mounede, fontaine du Foumouze), rich houses, porches (the Porte du Barry, Porte de la Vinzelle), bridges, chapels, etc.
As Conques is surrounded by nature, there are lots of sports and open-air activities to enjoy like hiking on the hills, but also mountain biking, canoeing and fishing on the Tarn River. The vilage has a swimming pool, tennis courts and petanque fields.
Every summer, in July and August, a night market gives rhythm to your stay in Conques.
Food and drinks
With the local ewe milk we make the worldwide famous Roquefort cheese, but also the Perail, Tome and Recuite, wich are also cheeses. We find it as well in local pastries such as the Flaune. Discover also meat specialities and local Tarn wines.
