If you go a few kms North of Carcassonne you will arrive in a very nice area called the Black Mountains. The name of this mountain comes from the darkness of the trees that you can see in the nature (oak trees, beech tree, fir tree, spruce…).

 

The Black Mountains are separating 3 departments (the Tarn, the Herault and the Aude) and are inside the “ National Park of Languedoc” (which house 240 spices of birds and have a very important diversity of climate and Landscape).

 

The water from the mountain is used to supply the famous “Canal du Midi”. The Black Mountains are ideal if you want to escape the stress of the big cities, without being totally isolated. This area is very popular, the properties have a very good value for money because the area is more rural than the Carcassonne area.

 

For less than 100.000 euros you will find a little character property in need of renovation or redecoration in an authentic village.  Within 150.000 euros you can afford a nice 3 bedroom village house, with apparent beans, a garden or large terrace and ready to move in. If you are looking for some privacy and prefer a detached property, you could find a pretty villa with a nice size garden for less than 200.000 euros. If you got a budget more important, you could find in the Blacks Mountains impressive properties, as mansion, water mills or large farm houses.
