Olympic site created at altitude to prepare French athletes for the Summer Olympics of 1968 in Mexico, Font-Romeu hosts CNEA (Centre National altitude training) which will prepare the greatest athletes of all disciplines and nationalities. Font-Romeu, voted "most athletic city" in 2009, also hosts about 500 students from STAPS University (University of Perpignan). Font-Romeu is, moreover, a city known for the management of respiratory diseases, the chronic allergies and atopic eczema. Font-Romeu is the first European ski resort where snowboarding developed. There is a snow park for snowboarders, miles of alpine ski runs, and snowy forest trails.

Food and Local Specialities:
The Mediterranean, the Pyrenees, the Roussillon plain and foothills are a cornucopia spilling the flavors of ripe fruit and vegetables, and those of their wines... It is a cuisine of the sun, which mixes sweet and savoury, and combines the produce from the sea and from the mountains. Olive oil and garlic are the bases, enhanced by the sweetness of the almond, the strength of a bitter chocolate or the subtle spices. Font Romeu resort is located in the Pyrenees Orientales of the Languedoc Roussillon region. It is located 92 minutes from Perpignan and Andorra la Vella.

By car: 90 minutes drive from Perpignan. Take the RN116 from Perpignan then the D118 from Mont Louis or the RN 20 from Toulouse.
By rail: The Mont Louis/La Cabanasse SNCF train station is 13km away, then take the shuttle to Font Romeu.
By air: Perpignan-Rivesaltes International Airport is 95km from Font Romeu, with daily connecting flights to Paris, the UK and Brussels.
